Whether you are a new user or a regular customer of Kojie San Kojic Acid Soaps, shopping of this product is a big challenge, especially in Pakistan market. The most asked customers’ question its authenticity but don’t know how to identify the real or original Kojie San. In our experience most customer ask an innocent question, “Is it original?”, despite knowing that both original or fake sellers would reply in “Yes”. So, how to overcome this dilemma and buy original Kojie San products online.

In this blog we list down all the possible identifiers that will help you choose the Original Kojie San soap and avoid Fake Kojie San products.

Before we get into details of how to identify an original Kojie San products, let us understand what are the techniques competitors use to trick customers in to believing they are buying Original Kojie San products:

        1. Me Too / Look-alike Kojie San: In a flash you might think that it is Kojie San but if you pay attention they use names and packaging that look like original Kojie San but slightly different, just enough to protect themselves from legal action. For example:

        2. Fake Kojie San: You come to know about this only when you open the pack. The color, texture and smell will all be disappointment. Even if you haven’t used it in the past, your intuition will warn you that something is wrong. Here’s how you know: TEXTURE: the original Kojie San soap will be soft (slightly harder than butter) easy to press with thumb and cause dimple whereas a Fake Kojie San is usually hard as ordinary bath soap bar. COLOR: The original Kojie San is Orange as Mandarin fruit and slightly translucent. You can’t see through it but light will penetrate to some extent and the Fake will be dark orange and dull and rough. SMELL: Original will have a pleasant orange fruit smell whereas the fake will either has very light smell or chemical like Sodium Hydroxide (caustic soda).

        3. Packaging / Box: We have come across feeds from some bloggers and vloggers claiming that you can see some spelling mistakes and wrong barcodes in fake kojie san, which in our expert opinion can’t be considered for deliberation with certainty because such mistakes can be made by the original company as well (though rarely). Moreover, counterfeit producers are so good at copying that they would copy even the mistakes. The only different you might notice that they would try to use low quality paper to make box and may not be able to match the colors exactly. In case of Kojie San the only colors used in packaging are red and black, both being basic colors, are not hard to match, how the box is pure white which is hard to create and fake end up being dull or pale as show below:

Moreover, you will also notice distributor stamp or sticker which is usually not pasted by the manufacturer in their factory but by the distributor in their warehouse. Though this is can be considered as a sign of authenticity but it doesn’t mean that all soaps will have the same stamp. Each region or distributor can have their own stamp.

        4. BAR Code / QR Code: This is another myth that needs to be broken. In some markets esp. Africa where there are more than one distributors and they keep trying to push their stock in each others region, some smart guys came up with idea of pasting QR code sticker on their stock and vloggers knowingly or due to lack of knowledge started promoting QR stickers as mean of authentication. Isn’t it a common sense that culprits who can copy a soap and packaging, can copy a tiny QR code sticker, which can be done through many free websites on the internet. Here’s an example of sticker being used which BEVI (Kojie San manufacturer) doesn’t paste. Some examples are as below:

All those have different stickers but are original therefore, can’t necessarily use those as mean of authentication.

        5. Production and Expiry Date: The company prints this as per distributors’ request considering local rules and regulation. As some countries only require Expiry Date or Best Before Date with Batch Number whereas some countries / regions want both Production and Expiry Dates mentioned on pack. It can vary from 1 year to 3 years. Not a hard and fast rule and a reason to be considered as fake or real.
